Q: As far as I can tell Maryland Vital Statistics does not accept requests for records from a son or daughter
A: The Maryland Vital Statistics Administration has a webpage that spells out who can apply for what stats, how to do it, and how much it's gonna cost you. It looks like death certificates are available to any "surviving relative of the deceased," so as a child you should be covered. Birth certificates seem to be more limited, but if you can prove legal need, you should be able to get that too. Much of the info contained on your father's birth certificate may appear on his death certificate. Good luck!
