Q: My grandparents' name is Aid. I know that my grandpa Frank's mother was named Katie Aid. I have been told she was Irish but when I look it up, I never find the name Aid anywhere in Ireland. Any help would be great. Thanks. I guess I should have said that a former spelling of the name was Ayd.
A: Could have started out a gaeilge name.The British frowned on using Irish and it might have been changed to Aid then.
