A: Queen Elizabeth I had a very close relationship with Robert Dudley, but he was married to someone else. His wife Amy Robsart died in somewhat suspicious circumstances (falling downstairs while everyone was out) and although Elizabeth may have wished to marry him, she could not do so because of the scandal. And eventually he married again, which made her very angry for a while. However, she remained very fond of him, and when she died the last letter he had written to her was found among her things marked 'his last letter'.
