A: How about Mary Wollstonecraft, author of the highly controversial (at the time) book, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. When you consider that her book (one of many) was one of the first books on feminism, she was advocating not just freedom of speech for women, but also for their right to be recognized as equal human beings. This was a big step in 1792!
